Once again, the time has arrived for the Furniture Fair, surprising us all with the latest trends in “dressing” our homes on a great scale. The size of the beds, armchairs, sofas and tables on display is certainly an eye catcher.

In order to decorate the house of our dreams, we must first have all our ideas neatly arranged with everything in its place. With this in mind, the professional visitors to IFEMA scour the aisles and stands in the Fair’s 10 pavilions hunting for those pieces of furniture that conjure up the idea of our dream home.

Variety is the spice of life, hence the myriad colours, shapes and sizes, where past and present combine the more classical styles with the warmer, more comfortable spaces of modern styles. The trick is to find the balance between old and new, oriental and western, black and white. This is how we harmonise colours, textures and an infinite range of proposals and alternatives to create that distinctive personality that each one of us wants to bestow on our homes’ different spaces.

In IFEMA, the living room and bedroom take priority. Their shapes, colours and decorative elements will reveal, almost subconsciously, our own personality. Today it is not unusual to find a combination of materials such as wood, leather, steel and glass in the same room. Lighting, with all of its creative potential, is also an important feature as by illuminating one particular piece of furniture we can highlight the personality of the others. The idea, in brief, is to make each corner of our homes an exclusive space.

Pavilions 4 and 6 house the stands displaying the most contemporary trends in furniture as well as the products aimed at the mass market. For example, we can see therapeutic massage chairs incorporating cutting-edge technology that will help us relax as they massage our back. One example of these chairs is the one manufactured by KEYTON. Their leather-upholstered armchair has a sophisticated control panel located on the arm for us to enjoy an automatic massage at the touch of a button or, should we wish, we can choose from a menu of 32 personalised massages from the remote control.
